Physical development
is about learning. It is the moreacademic of the domains and looks at how childrenlearn to reason, think, project, plan, evaluate, andnegotiate.- It is the domain that speaks to early math and sciencelearning and problem solving skills.
Cognitive development
refers to how children learn tosend and receive messages to communicate with thepeople around them.- It includes the patterns of skill development that leadto reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Language development
includes things likehow children learn to express their personalities, andhow they learn self-regulation, attachment, trust,empathy, sympathy, and friendship skills.
Social-emotional development
It is the physical development change in thecomplexity of the body structures that enables a childto function at increasingly higher level.
Maturation
involves changes in behavior that occur as a result ofboth maturation and experience with environment
