Venezuelan Border Dispute -
- late 1894
- Venezuela and British colony of Guiana fought over the boundary.
- US tried to enforce the Monroe Doctrine by themselves.
- Venezuela asked Grover Cleveland to send someone to help.
- Richard Olney from US went to negotiate to settle the dispute on behalf of Venezuela.
- Britain protested, but US was to powerful to ignore.
- Britain suggested that the US be their partner in foreign affair.

Great White Fleet

  • Late 1907
  • Demonstrate American military strength to the world
  • President Roosevelt sent them on a 14-month cruise around the world
  • to show specifically Japan that we have power.
  • 16 white battleships and 12 other supporting craft

  • He went to Germany where they were teaching Evolution.
  • He brought evolution back to American and it was taught in American schools.

  • Kids weren’t getting the eduction that they needed.
  • It teaches the wrong ideas to future generations.
  • It led to the breakdown of academic and moral standards in American Schools in the later half of the 20th century.
