What does cancer screening mean, and when is it important?
Screening for cancer means checking for tumours even if there are no symptoms. It is highly important if there is a family history.
What are some ways to screen for cancer?
Ways to screen include: Breast self-examination and PAP test; Testicular self-examination and PSA test, and Physical Examinations (checking for lumps, skin changes, etc.)
What are some ways to diagnose for cancer? (Hint: 6 ways!)
Endoscopy, X-ray, Ultrasound, CT scanning, MRI and Biopsy (cancer cells often have irregular shapes visible under the microscope.)
What are the ways to treat cancer?
Surgery (surgically removing the tumour), radiation treatment (use of radiation to kill cancerous cells) and chemotherapy (destroys rapidly dividing cells in the body, like cancerous cells.)
