Parietal bone
The central side/upper back part of each side of the skull
Frontal bone
The front of the skull (forehead)
Occipital bone
Forms the back of the skull and the spinal cord passes through it
Foramen magnum
The hole in the base of the skull that the spinal cord passes
Occipital condyles
Two rounded knobs on the occipital bone that forms the joint in the first cervical vertebra
External occipital protuberance
Small bump on the back of the lower skull
Nuchal lines
Four curved lines on the external surface of the occipital bone
Temporal bone
Enclose the middle/inner ear
External acoustic meatus
Ear canal tube from the outer ear to the middle ear
Mandibular fossa
The depression in the temporal bone
Styloid process of the temporal bone

Mastoid process
The temporal bone behind the ear (neck muscles are attached)

A projection of the temporal bone that forms part of zygoma
