Definition of HRD
A process of shaping individual and group values and beliefs, and skilling through learning-related activities to support the desired performance of the organization.
How to get to HRD
A set of systematic planned activities designed by an organization.
Hawthorne Studies
Explored what kinds of worker productivity. They also tried to figure out what would make workers more productive. Also, if an organization is evaluated, you will work harder.

Definition of Downsizing
Voluntary actions on the part of the organization to reduce the overall size of their workforce, generally to reduce costs.
Social Loafing
Tendency for individuals to reduce level of effort as group becomes larger.
Social Norms
Unspoken rules about how people should act in certain situations.
McGregor’s Theory X & Theory Y
Theory X-believes that employees hate their job.
Theory Y-believes that employees enjoy their job.
Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory
Motivatiors are satisfaction where as hygiene factors are dissatisfaction

The motivation theory that says three acquired, needs achievement, power, and affiliation, are major motivators in work.

Goal Setting Theory
The proposition that specific goals increase performance and that difficult goals, when accepted, result in higher performance than do easy goals.
self-efficacy
An individuals belief that he or she is capable of preforming a task.
Pavlov’s
If you give a dog a treat when he preforms a task he is going to associate it with the task. Ex. if you ring a bell and he comes you give him a treat. After time when you ring the bell and he comes you wont have to give him a treat he will just come.
Learning
A relatively permanent change in behavior, cognition, or affect that occurs as a result of one’s interaction with the environment.
