HOW THEY’VE MADE IT MORE SUSTAINABLE:
1. Low carbon emissions make it carbon neutral.
2. The homes required a lot less heating requirements- 10% less than the average UK home.
3. It is energy and water efficient.
4. The reuse materials for construction.
5. Public transport is easily available.
6. People are encouraged to use a locally based fleet of vehicles for essential car use.
IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED TO BE MADE:
1. The town is made up of at least 40% green space.
2. They should encourage walking and cycling by making more paths and routes.
3. they need to use a renewable energy source for each house for example- wind turbines or solar panels.
4. Need to plant more trees so more carbon dioxide can be taken in.

Reasons for decline in high Wycombe’s CBD:
1. The shops are very spread out and outdated.
2. Competition between out-of-town retail parks because they were more modernised.
3. Lots of traffic and congestion because they didn’t close off roads to the CBD core.
STRATEGIES:
1. Diverted traffic away from the CBD core.
2. Redevelopment of shopping area to make more attractive and modernised.

1. Providing families with legal titles to the land they live on.
2. Money invested in providing basic infrastructure.
3. Cheap financial loans to residents buying building materials.
4. Free advice on how to build and design your home.
BENEFITS OF THE SCHEME:
1. Labour costs are kept a minimum and the city receives an income from repaid loans.
2. Quality of peoples homes is improved and healthier environment is created.
3. Children have access to education.
4. Inhabitants benefit from training in construction and gain formal employment.
5. Better road links and a slightly wealthier population.
6. More employment opportunities.
COMMUNITY HOUSING PROJECTS:
1. Existing favelas are destroyed and are replaced with buildings 5-11 storeys high.
2. They will have two bedrooms, kitchen, sitting room, a laundry room and a bathroom.
3. To get an apartment families will have to pay a 20 year mortgage. Between $18-$30 a month.
SUCCESSES OF THE SCHEME:
1. It has provided a home for 42,000 people.
2. The cost of the scheme so far is $500 million.
