What is a Prophet?
Prophets are people God calls to speak his word to others. God gives them the special gift of seeing things as they truly are. The role of the prophet is to point out how people are turning away from God to tell them what they need to do to return to the ways of God.
After Solomon’s death what happened to the chosen people?
Most of the kings became unfaithful to the Lord.
What did prophets tell the people?
God called the prophets to remind the people of the covenant. The prophets encouraged the people to turn away from sin toward God to live as his people.
Who are the major prophets in the prophetic book?
The major prophets had the three longest books and they were named after themselves, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
How did Elijah prove Baal wasn’t real and God is?
He held a contest between God and Baal. Then he proved that Baal was not God, Jezebel vowed to kill Elijah.
What happened when Elijah spoke to Ahab about his double-dealing and fore told his punishment?
He repented and ordered that all false idols be destroyed, and Jezebel found out. She became angry with Elijah and tried to have him killed.
Why did Jezebel fail killing Elijah?
Elijah is protected by God he managed to escape Jezebel’s wrath and he flee to another country.
What carried Elijah away?
A fiery chariot
