A

o Error in base sequence that is carried along in DNA replication.

  • Point mutation – a single base change
    • Silent – same amino acid is inserted
    • Missense – Changed to a different amino acid
    • Nonsense – Changed to stop codon
  • Insertion and deletion – addition or deletion of a base or group of bases.
