Q

State 3 difference between Heat and Temperature.

A
  1. Heat is a form of energy , whereas temperature is the degree of hotness or coldness of an object
  2. Heat is measured in joule (J), whereas temperature is measured in degrees Celcius (°C) or kelvin (K)

3.The amount of heat depends on the type of material, quantity of material and temperature , whereas Temperature depends on the degree of movement of the particles in a matter.

Q

Give examples of heat flow in natural phenomena. Support your answers.

A
  1. Sea breeze - The sea breeze circulation is composed of two opposing flows, one at the surface and one aloft . These two flows are a result of the difference in air density between the land and sea caused by the sun’s heating.
  2. Land Breeze-Land Breeze are formed during the night when sea water and land both lose heat, specific heat capacity of land being very low as compared to that of sea water, land loses heat energy fast and cools more rapidly as compared to the sea.

Q

Why do dark objects absorb and radiate heat better than white objects?

A

Because of Absorption and Radiation of Heat. The ability of an object to absorp or radiate heat depends on the type and colour of its surface.

Q

Give an example of Heat Concept in Daily Life.

A

The Green Building Concept- is an idea developed to reduce the effects of rapid development on the environment and our health.

The Green Building Concept uses
1.has high energy efficiency
through the usage of solar
energy or renewable energy
2.has good water flow system, air
circulation and lighting
3.uses recycled materials
