Memory or past experiences people have with the words being communicated.
Thought or reference
The mutual exchange of symbols and meanings
Reciprocity
Verbal and nonverbal signals we give to one another while we communicate.
Feedback
Learned patterns of perception, values, and behaviors shared by a group of people
Culture
Belief that our own culture perspectives, norms, and ways of organizing society are superior to other cultures
Ethnocentrism
When people communication internally with their own selves.
Intrapersonal communication
Communication with other people that ranges from the highly personal to the highly impersonal.
Interpersonal communication
Interacting with a small but organized collection of people.
Group communication
