The food you eat
What is a nutrient?
A nutrient is a ‘substance found in food that has a specific function in the body’
What is a ‘source’?
The food that a nutrient is found in?
What is ‘physical work’

What is obesity?
A disorder caused by gaining excessive weight that is over 1/3 of their body weight
What is ‘dental curies’
The process which causes tooth decay
What is a ‘Energy balance’?
A source is balancing the food we eat with physical activity
What is hygiene?
Hygiene is related to cleanliness and food poisoning
What is safety?
Safety is how careful you are. And if you are going to get hurt

Dairy and alternatives
Fruit and veg
Beans, pulses, fish, eggs, and other proteins
Potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and other starchy foods
Oils and spreads
What is the vitamins in the potatoes and bread section?
Starchy carbohydrates, protein and fibre
What is the vitamins in the fruit and vegetables section?
Vitamin C and dietary fiber
If you get cut what do you put on and why?
You put a blue plaster on because it helps stop the cut and if it gets in food it is easy to see
Name 3 rules for personal hygiene
Tie long hair aback to stop you and the food you are preparing to get hair in it
You must not sneeze or cough over food
Avoid handling food if you are unwell

What do you do if someone gets a minor burn?
Place under cold water for at least 10 minutes or until the pain subsides. Do not burst blister. Only cover if blister has burst.
What do you do for a small cut?
Clean out with water and cover with a clean dressing. Apply pressure to stop the bleeding. If serious seek medical attention
Name three safety things to do in the kitchen that could cause accidents
Don’t let children have cleaning agents
Don’t run in the kitchen
Don’t overload electrical sockets
What does protein help with?
Protein helps with rapid growth
What do carbohydrates do?
Carbohydrates are good for energy to grow and carry out activities. There are two types of carbohydrates - starch and Sugar
What does fat help with
Fat helps to provide energy but if you don’t use it up by the time you stop moving and sit down for a long time
What are the main nutrients in the dairy section?
Protein, calcium, fat
Vitamin C
Help build strong immune systems
