What is physical quantity?
A physical quantity is a quantity which can be measured.
SI units long form, name of the unit, symbol of unit?
Answer
How many types to measure length?
4 types
- Measuring tape (accuracy : 0.1 cm) { length of several metres}
- Metre rule (or ) half-metre rule (0.1 cm) { length of several cm to 1m. }
- Vernier Calipers ( accuracy : 0.01cm) { length between 1 cm to 10 cm}
- Micrometer screw gauge (0.01 mm) {length of less than 2 cm }
How many type of stopwatch and what?
2 types of stopwatch :
Digital stopwatch ( accuracy : 0.01 s) more accurate
Analogue stopwatch (accuracy : 0.1 s)
Prefix
What is term meant by volume? unit?
Volume is the amount of space occupied ( m³)
How to measure irregular object of the volume?
Volume of solid = V2 -V1
What is meant by the term mass?
Mass is the quantity of matter in a body.
Mass is measured by?
measure with a balance
What is Density term meant by?
Density is the mass per unit volume of a substance
What is the density of a water?
1000 kg/ m³
Formula of density?
P = m/V
Precautions ?
the cylinder is placed on a horizontal surface
the eye should be at the same level as the meniscus
the bottom of the meniscus is read ( water)
the top of the meniscus is read ( mercury)
What is meant by the term “weight?”
the attracting force of the earth acting in a body/ object.
The formula of weight, mass and gravity?
W = mg
Mass ______ , but Weight ______
Mass doesnt change but weight changes
G stands for ?
Gravitational field strength
Two students, David and Jone, put a rock into a meniscus. David, put the rock into the meniscus half way and Jone put a rock towards the surface. Will they volume will be the same or which one is correct?
Both of them will have/ get the same volume
Why reading the bottom of the meniscus is more closer to the accuracy answer?
Because the volume above the bottom of the meniscus is small.
