3 reasons why botany is important
Because plants are the ultimate source of mans food.
Because medicine is derived from plants.
Because plants and plant products are vital in industry.
2 Woody plants
Trees (a plant with a single tall Woody stem capable of standing erect without support)
Shrub (a plant with several low, Woody stems near the ground and able to stand erect without support)
Nonwoody plants
Herbaceous
Herbs
Plants who’s stem remains relatively soft
Examples of herbaceous plants
Daisies, tomatoes, grasses, mints, and daffodils
Vine
Can be Woody or herbaceous.
Any plant with a long thin stem that grows along the ground or has tendrils that twine around a wall or other support.
Examples of vines
Herbaceous: cucumbers, beans and morning glories.
Woody: grapes
Parts of a plant
Roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits
