History Priniciple
How we got where we are today
Policy Principle
Political outcomes are the products of individual preferences, institutional procedures, and collective action
Collective action principle
the concept of individuals coming together to influence political outcomes, policy decisions, or social change
Instituions structure principle
Gov institutions are the formal structures which governmental authority is exercized and public policies are developed and implemented.
What is the basis of the following:
Rationality Principle
refers to the assumption that people are instrimental in trying to reach thier goals, and this drives political behavior. (all political behavior has a purpose)
Totalitarian Government
Government power is not limited by the law/ tries to eliminate any other social institutions that might challenge them
Authoritarian Government
Government power is not limited by law, though may be restained by social institutions (the church/religion)
Constituional Government
established specific limits on the powers of the government politics
Democracy
Permits citizens to play a significant role in government through public officials
Oligarchy
a small group of land owners, military, or wealthy merchans controls most of the governing decisions
Autocracy
A form of governemtn in which a single individual rules
