Henry Clay

National Republicans

John C. Calhoun

Kitchen cabinet

A third-party, the anti-masonic party, arose shortly before the election, stimulated by the questionable activities of the Masonic Lodge and other secret societies.
Specie Circular of 1836
Jackson attempted to slow the spiraling inflation by issuing the species circular of 1836. It ordered the probation of the use of anything except gold or silver coin spice, or hard money for the purchase of public land.

The Cherokees and other civilized Tribes were forcibly moved west to what is today Oklahoma. the hard journey from their homes resulted in the deaths of many Indians became known as the trail of tears
Panic of 1837
Just weeks after Van Buren took office, the economy collapsed, pulling the country down into the deep five your depression known as the panic of 1873.
