- exchanging gases (tachypnea)
- circulated more volume (tachycardia)

How does the marrow respond to anemia as a stimulus for compensatory mechanism
A
- increased erythropoiesis, stimulated by increase in renal production of EPO in response to hypoxia (successful in non maturation defect anemia)
- immature erythrocytes released, many contain ribosomes and RER (reticulocytes)
