How does the marrow respond to anemia as a stimulus for compensatory mechanism

A
  • increased erythropoiesis, stimulated by increase in renal production of EPO in response to hypoxia (successful in non maturation defect anemia)
  • immature erythrocytes released, many contain ribosomes and RER (reticulocytes)
