What was the proclamation line?
The line and border that meant the people of the 13 colonies could not move into the Ohio valley, where there was priceless farming land.
Who was Jeffery Amherst? What was his attitude towards the French Canadians
The commander in chief in North America. He liked the way the Canadians lived and wanted them to keep their culture and religion but he also wanted them to I grated British civil law.

Would combine the French and British ways of doing things.

They were allowed to keep the Catholic Church, speak French, seigniorial system.

A fight over land between the British and the French.

The British. They learned how to fight. The colonist realized they didn’t need the British army.
How much debt was the government in and how did they get rid of it.
140 million pounds after the 7 years war. To get rid of it they tied the colonist.
What did the Americans want the Canadians to do in the American revolution?
To leave the British and join them.
Why did they want this?
Bc if both colonies were fighting the British army wouldn’t have as many soldiers and their army would be more spread out.
Describe the invasion of Quebec.
Americans send two fleets.
- mongumrys forces easily captured Montreal. They took the easier root.
- Arnold’s forces only half made it to Quebec. Most died going through the forest. Traveled all on foot.
What happened at the battle of Quebec?
Mongumrys and Arnold’s forces meet outside Québec in dec 1775. They wait for it to snow so they can hide in it. Many Americans solider contracts end at the end of the year so the colonist had to plan the attack fast. The American were smushed once inside Quebec. 100 killed instantly. 400 surrendered. May 1776 the British reinforcements came before the American ones.
Why didn’t the Canadians want to join the Americans.
Most stayed neutral
They were happy with what they had
They knew they wouldn’t get a better deal with the Americans.
Why didn’t the nova scotias join the revolution.
They were to spread out and far away
Only half of them were American
Nova Scotia were in the middle of an great awaking ending that preached neutrality.
The NS government was already cancelling unpopular taxes.

What was the constitutional act?
It have people in upper and lower canada their own legislative assembly, there by giving them repersentive government. Because the British government did not repeal the Quebec act which didn’t give an a say in government.
What people in upper and lower canada could speak French after the constitutional act was passed?
Lower Canada was mainly French speaking.
What were the borders after the constitutional act was passed?
St Lawrence and down is present day Quebec. St Lawrence up (upper canada) is present day Ontario.
What is a loyalist?
Someone who did not support the revolution.
1-5 were loyalist
Nicknamed Tories
Many were emigrants from other countries than England.
Patriots torchured the loyalist and burned their houses
