15
Q

what is Lina Alba?

A
  • tough, thick fibrous band that extends from the xiphoid processes to the pubic symphysis
  • the central tendon, attachment of the oblique muscles
  • thick because there are so many tendons attached (3 on each side)

16
Q

where are the rectus abdominals

A
  • two on each side of the lina alba
  • from the coastal cartilage to the pubic tubricals
  • small tendons (tendonous intersections) perpandicular to the lina alba, inersect the muscle, giving the “8 pack” appearence
17
Q

explain the external oblique

A

the most superficial layer

  • contain adoneurosis (sheet like tendon, borad attachment to lina alba)
  • tissue adjacent to rectus
18
Q

explain internal oblique

A
  • fibres run at oblique angles
  • just internal to external oblique
  • attaches to lina alba via it;s apondeurosis (which splits around the rectus)
19
Q

explain the transverse abd. muscles

A
  • fibres run perpandicualar to the lina alba

- apondeurosis runs behind the rectus

20
Q

what is the ingenial ligament?

A

an extension of the oblique muscle

21
Q

the external fibre dirrection

A

toward the front pockets

-anteriorly, medially, inferiorly

22
Q

external inserect onto?

A

illiac crest, pubic symphsis

23
Q

the external originates from?

A

the costal cartilage

24
Q

the internal dirrect is:

A

toward the back pockerts

25
the internal originates from?
the iliac crest and the lumbar vertebra
26
the internal inserts onto?
costal region
27
the transverse oringates?
costal region, lumbar vertbrae, iliac crest
28
the transverse inserts onto?
the lina alba
29
the function of the layes of abdominal side muscles
- trunk flexion, extension, rotation | - changes in abdominal pressure
