Why was the Concordat of Worms an important turning point for the Catholic Church?
it allowed the church to elect bishops instead of the king. This in turn gave more power to the church.
How did the pope use interdicts to achieve his goals?
The pope was able to get ppl under interdiction to pressure their ruler to make changes favorable to the Pope.

Cistercians
- strict diet & a single robe; prayer & manual labor; spread the religion
Franciscans
- absolute poverty; aided poor; missionary work
Dominicans
- poverty; preached against heresies; Inquisition
How did religion influence the daily lives of ppl in the High Middle Ages?
People received the sacraments to ensure salvation.
They revered saints & took pilgrimages to holy shrines.
