Self-reinforcement
Administering consequences to oneself. Students may be taught to select reinforcers (or punishers), determine criteria for their delivery, and deliver the consequences to themselves.
Self-recording
A way to maintain productivity. Data collection on one’s own behavior.
Self-punishment
Self-administration of punishing consequences contingent on behavior
Self-instruction
The process by which a student provides verbal prompts to himself or herself in order to direct or maintain a particular behavior.
Reactive effect
the behavior may change in the desired direction as a function of the self-recording process alone.
Stringent Standards
Helps the learner know exactly what to expect and how they need to complete the task.
