Which name goes first?
“A. Green” or
“Agnes Green”?
A.Green comes before.
When last names and first initials are the same, the one with the initial comes first (before the one that is written out).

John Doe. The simpler name comes before people with middle names (i.e. John A. Doe or John Allan Doe)

Jack Richard Hertz?

The simpler (shorter) of the two names will go first.
Which one goes first?

Ignore apostrophes and assume simple spelling (O’dea -> Odea).

Tip: While keeping the first name separate:
Remove all capitals, weird spelling, and glue all the words together.

Whenever there is a hyphen “-“, assume it’s like gluing the two words together.

Are last in priority when filing.
Names are filed in STRICT alphabetical order:
#1: Last Name, then #2: First name (or Initial), #3: Middle name.

Rule is: Last name, First name, Middle name, Other =
“Rice, Edward, and Sons.”

- Town/City
- State ONLY as last resort if Town/City are the same.

NOTE Company hyphenation is DIFFERENT from People Hyphenation.
With People hyphenation, you just glue the words together.
With Company hyphenation, you SEPARATE the words.
In this case, Oil-O-Match is = “Oil O Match “

According to the rules for individuals, when the last names are the same, you alphabetize by first name next.
