- Proportional- same percentage of taxation on everyone regardless of income, Ex: sales tax
- Progressive- a tax which takes a larger percentage from those who earn a higher income, Ex: Income
- Regressive- a tax that takes a larger percentage of income from low-income groups than from high- income groups, Ex: gas, cigarettes & alcohol
