Chapter 16 Fuel Policy Flashcards
(31 cards)
AV in the Fuel policy stands for what?
Approved Variations.
What is the captain Reid to do if payload is offloaded due to Fuel?
File a PHaSSR.
What does declaring Minimum Fuel mean?
Informs ATC that all planned aerodrome options have been reduced to a specific aerodrome of landing, any change to existing clearance may result in the a/c landing with less than min reserve.
This is not an emergency situation but an indication that one may occur if there is any further delay.
What phrase should you use for when you are going to land with less than min reserve?
Mayday Fuel.
Definition Additional Fuel? 6
Fuel shown as additional on flt plan may cover?
- EDTO icing reqmnts
- CDL or MEL reqmnts
- tankering fuel
- CAV or AV reqmnts
- Build to minimum order for a/c type
- oprisk Fuel.
Approach Fuel?
1500ft to touchdown = 300kgs
Define arrival allowance?
Additional manoeuvring between TOD and touch down
Define Ballast Fuel?
Used for W&B purposes only.
Appears on the load sheet as an adjustment to dry operating weight.
Cannot be used, jettisoned or counted as reserve Fuel.
Define contingency Fuel?
Additional Fuel when read to allow for engine failure, depressurisation, edto or DPA diversion reqmnts.
What is DPA?
Designated point all engines.
Point on the plan where a/c is furthest from airport and can still divert to a suitable airport with all engines operating.
Only main or alternate airports are used for DPA calculations.
Define DPD?
Most Fuel critical Point on track were the same Fuel is read to proceed to either of 2 acceptable airports following a depressurisation and descent to 14000ft until oxygen depletion then 10000ft and arrive with fixed Fuel reserve.
Preflight must have fixed reserve and app Fuel, airports may be main alternate and emergency
Define DP1?
Most Fuel critical Point on track from which the same Fuel is read to proceed to either of 2 airports that are at or above alternate minima.
Preflight DP1 Fuel includes?
Fuel to divert to either airport Plus 5% of that Fuel Plus app Fuel Plus fixed reserve Plus any special holding Fuel.
Define diversion fuel
Fuel from 1500-200ft at destination followed by a go-around then fuel to 1500ft at alternate.
What is considered dispatch?
The doors closed and push back.
What is the minimum endurance over destination?
75mins at 1500ft or 2700kg unless payload limited.
For fuel planning purposes when is the a/c considered to be in flight?
Once flight plan has been submitted and Fuel figures have been advised to atc.
Define payload Fuel?
Payload Fuel is considered part of zero fuel weight.
Is carried only in the centre tank to satisfy a MEL dispatch rqmnt.
Payload Fuel may be used provided:
-Mel reqmnts met
- w and b reqmnts met
- all Fuel limitations observed.
What is considered the preflight with regards to Fuel planning?
Prior to flight plan being submitted and Fuel figures have been advised to atc.
What altitude is special holding fuel calculated for?
20000ft
Special holding Fuel should be a maximum of what?
Do you need to carry it for your alternate as Well?
For either inter or tempo up to 60mins
No need to carry it for both just at alternate if reqd
What is taxi fuel allowance made up of?
Burn of 15kg/min plus 30kg for apu.
Variable fuel reserve covers what?
5% of flight fuel and diversion fuel when reqd.
What alternatives are available when variable fuel reserve is unable to be carried?
5% of flight fuel from DPA to destination (and diversion when reqd).
Or
If it still cant be carried then DPA may be planned on a suitable airport.
