Chapter 19 Equilibria Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
What do different values of K represent ?
A
- K = 1 equilibrium position is halfway
- K = 100 equilibrium position favours the products
- K = 1x10^-2 equilibrium position favours the reactants
2
Q
What condition causes the value of K to change ?
A
- at a given temperature K does NOT change
- K can only change when temperature changes
- pressure or concentration cannot change the value of K
3
Q
What happens to the K value when there is an increase in temperature (forwards is exothermic) ?
A
K value decreases with increasing temperature, raising temperature decreases equilibrium yield of product
