What happens to applications when you turn off your PC?
When your PC is turned off any applications you have are stored on your mass storage. Main purpose of mass storage is to store data when when we are not using it!
What happens when we click on an application?
CPU “talks” to HD. It ask for an application like microsoft word. Hard drive is not as fast as a CPU. What happens when we run a program is we are taking a copy of the application and placing it onto our RAM. RAM fast RAM expensive. Once it is on the RAM our application is running. Application then waits for some type of input like typing.
What happens when we save something like a file from an application?
The CPU instructs data that is on the RAM to save and send it to the mass storage.
What are two things Mass storage stores?
Data, and applications not in use. Ex: Games, photos, data, etc…
What makes something a computer?
It must have a CPU, RAM, Mass storage, and an operating system.
