What is the difference between growth mindset and fixed mindset ?

A

In short, fixed mindset = talents & abilities as set traits. VS growth mindset = abilities can be developed through effort.

Growth mindset :
1) I can learn anything I want to.
2) When I’m frustrated, I persevere.
3) I want to challenge myself.
4) When I fail, I learn.
5) Tell me I try hard.
6) If you succeed, I’m inspired.
7) My effort and attitude determine everything.

Fixed mindset :
1) I’m either good at it, or I’m not.
2) When I’m frustrated, I give up.
3) I don’t like to be challenged.
4) When I fail, I’m no good.
5) Tell me I’m smart.
6) If you succeed, I feel threatened.
7) My abilities determine everything.

A

Mental process that enables you to recognize and act on valuable opportunities with incomplete information, while being resilient under complex and uncertain conditions. Aka ability to persevere, accept, and learn from failure and get comfortable with a high level of discomfort.

  2. Identify it.
  3. Feel it.
  4. Face it.

  1. You have it, and it won’t go away. You can become better at dealing with it.
  2. Admit your fear so you can leverage it into courage. Don’t be afraid to admit you are afraid !
  3. Don’t avoid it. Don’t try to figure it out why you are afraid. Allow yourself to feel it.
  4. When you face it, you are acting on your fear. When you act you begin to manage it.
  5. Make comfroting fear a habit! Practice confronting fear like you would practice anything else!
