Q

Define merismatic tissue and classify them further.

A

Dividing tissue are known as merismatic tissue.

Based on location they’re classified into 3 parts

Apical meristem ( present on growing tip of stems) it increases the length of the stem.

Lateral meristem ( girth of the stem increases due to lateral)

Intercalary meristem ( increases nodes)

Q

What are permanent tissues? And how are they divided?

A

Merismatic tissue, once they lose the ability to divide they form permanent tissue.

They’re divided into simple permanent tissue and complex permanent tissue

Q

Features of parenchyma. Also define chlorenchyma and aerenchyma.

A

Parenchyma - 1 thin cell walls. 2 living cells 3 large inter cellular space 4 stores food

Parenchyma which contains chlorophyll is called chlorenchyma.

Parenchyma present in aquatic plants is called aerenchyma.

Q

Features of collenchyma and sclerenchyma

A

C- 1 provides mechanical support
2 living cells 3 little inter cellular space 4 elongated tissue

S -
1 dead cells
2 long and narrow cell walls
3 provides protection
4 no inter cellular space.

Q

What is epidermis? And what is the function of stomata?

A

Epidermis is the outermost layer of cells. It provides protection to all parts.

Small pores present on epidermis are called stomata, they’re necessary for transpiration process.

Q

Name the two complex plant tissue and also state what they’re made up of.

A

Xylem and phloem ( together called vascular bundle)

Xylem - parenchyma, fibres, tracheids, vessels.

Phloem - parenchyma, fibres, companion cells and sieve tubes.

Q

Location and function of squamous and stratified squamous tissue.

A

Simples squamous - thin cells present at oesophagus, skin and mouth.

Stratifed squamous - multiple layers of simple squamous is called stratified squamous. Present on skin.

Q

Columnar and cuboidal epithelial tissue, function location. Also define glandular tissue.

A

Column - helps in secretion and absorption.
Present in stomach, intestine.

Cuboidal - mechanical support and glandular tissue (formed when cuboidal folds inward) secretes hormones, present in ovary, salivary gland.

Tissue which secrete hormones, enzymes are called glandular tissue.

Q

All types of connective animal tissue. Also write very short notes on them.

A

1 blood ( transports gases, food, hormones)

2 bone ( framework that supports the body)

3 ligament ( connects bone to bone)

4 tendon ( muscles to bone connect)

5 cartilage ( soft bones, present in nose, ears, joints of bone surface )

6 areolar ( helps in repair of tissue)

7 adipose ( stores fat, also acts as a insulator)
