Why was the Balkans called the “powder keg” of Europe ?
Ottoman Empire was losing power and Balkans nations began breaking away from the ottomans

The black hand, a Serbian society plotted to kill Ferdinand to protest Austrian rule of Bosnia

Germany would race to defeat France. Then go back to defeat Russia

To protect soldiers from enemy fire

Because all resources are devoted to war

Because they wanted to remind neutral
How was the entry of the U.S. a turning point?
Their entry into the war helped the allies win the war

Germany and allies were pushed back by each other

Great Britain, France, and United States
What were the goals of the Big Three?
Both France and Britain wanted to punish Germany
But Wilson wanted a fair and just peace ( 14 points )

Germany must accept full responsibilities for the war
Germany must pay $30 billion in reparations to the allies
Germany must give up land and colonies
Germany cannot have an Air Force
