A

A

Also has a mission of informing the consumers as a collectivity and individually, to teach them and receive their complaints.

A

Purchasing a good is a contract and the seller is under no obligation to take back, exchange, give a store credit or give back his money to a consumer ( unless the item is defective)

A

Giving a deposit is considered a purchase. The seller can refuse to give back the deposit and he can force the consumer to fully purchase the item.

What precautions should you take when purchasing an object ?

  • Plan a budget and do not abuse credit
  • examine the marchandise before buying
  • ask about the return policy
  • if it’s a gift make sure it is written on the bill
  • give the smallest deposit possible and make sure that the seller writes that the deposit is refundable on the bill
  • keep the bill, the instructions, document pertaining the care of the product and any warranty document

What is the basic warranty
(Conventional warranty)

A

Warranty that the seller or marker can offer. It adds to the legal warranty (doesn’t warranty) and is included in the purchasing contract and the purchasing price.

A

No, it can be written or not.

How does the basic warranty apply to rents and buys

A

Any basic guaranty given to the buyer should also be given to someone who rents the good for minimum four months.

A

A contract by which the seller agrees to take care of repairs and replacement of a good if it doesn’t work well

  • inform the buyer of the legal warranty, it must be written on paper
  • inform the buyer about the existence and length of the basic warranty

A

According to OPC it is garantied and you have recourse against the personne who did it if the work is poorly done or charged at a higher price than expected.

When should the appliance repairman give a written evaluation and is it charged ?

A

An evaluation needs to be given when the repairs exceed 50$.

It should be free unless specified beforehand.

What should be included on an evaluation ?

A

Your name and that of the repair person

A description of the appliance to be repaired

Details about the repairs and it’s cot

The evaluation date and period for which it is valid

Can a repair person operate on its own ?
You must provide your authorization before any repair can be done. Moreover, without your authorization, the repair person cannot proceed with repairs that were not mentioned in the evaluation. The repair person cannot ask for more than the amount stated in the evaluation. The only fees that can be added to the evaluation are those linked to additional repairs that you have authorized

What should be found on the bill of an appliance repair
 Your name and address as well as the repair person’s name and address;  A description of the repaired appliance;  Details of the repair work done;  The parts that were replaced and their corresponding prices, including details regarding whether the parts were new, used, or refurbished;  The number of labour hours, the hourly rate, and the total labour costs;  The tax amounts charged;  The total amount you must pay for the repair;  Details about the warranty
