Chapter 3 Flashcards
(11 cards)
Linear equation
An equation that models a linear function.
Direct variation
A relationship that can be represented by a function in the form of y=kx where k=0
Parallel lines
Lines in the same plane that never intersect.
Perpendicular lines
Lines that intersect to form right angles.
Point-slope form
A nonvertical line with slope m and through point (x1, y1) is y-y1=m(x-x1).
Rate of change
Shows the relationship between two changing quantities.
Slope
Vertical change over horizontal change= rise over run
Slope intercept form
Y= x+b
Standard form
Ax+by=c where a, b and c are real numbers and a and b are
X-intercept
Is the x-cooridante of a point where a graph crosses the x-axis
Y-intercept
Of a graph is the y-coordinate of a point where the graph crosses the x-axis
