Chapter 3 - Linear Kinetics Part 2 (Week 2) Flashcards
(10 cards)
What is Newton second law?
Law of acceleration
What does law of acceleration state?
If a net external force is exerted on an object, the object will acelerate in the direction of the net external force, and its acceleration will be directly proportional to the net external force and inversely proportional to its mass
OR
( The acceleration of an object is directly propertional to the net force acting on it inversely proportional to its mass
What is the formula of law of acceleration?
F =m a
F = net force applied on the object
m = mass of object
a = acceleration
What is newton third law?
“For every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction”
Week 5 and 9, and 10
g
What is difference between impulse and momentum?
Impusle: The change in momentum caused by a force acting over a time interval
Momentum: the amount of motion an object has
What is impulse the product of?
Force and time over which force acts (COME BACK0
In order for momentum to change, what must change?
Mass or velocity must change
What does change in momentum mean?
cange in velocity
