What is periodic movement? State an example.

A

Involves longer period of time away from home and then returns home. Some examples are migrant laborers who come to the US, pastoral farming where ranchers move livestock according to seasonal availability of pastures (transhumance), and leaving home to attend college for four years.

What is the difference between international and internal migration?

A

International Migration - movement across country borders; when migrant leaves their home country, they are considered an emigrant of the home country and an immigrant of the destination country (e.g. Europe to the US)

Internal Migration - migration within a single country’s borders (e.g. Af-Am move south to west in the US)
