What is PT?
Physical therapy
What is OT?
Occupational therapy, the use of treatments to developers, recover, and maintain daily living and work skills
What is sequence task?
The inability to sequence,
Ex- socks then shoes
What is organize task?
The inability to organize a task and start it
What is atrophy?
Wasting of the muscle
What us rehabilitation?
The process of restoring the person to their highest possible level of physical, psychological, social, and economic function
What is restorative nursing?
The care that helps or persons regain health, strength, and independence
What is the average time period for rehab?
2 weeks- 3 months
What is the average time period for restorative care?
3 months- a year
What is the nursing goal of both rehab and restorative nursing?
Increase persons ADLs and promote independence
How does not moving around affect the GI system?
Constipation, loss of appetite
How does not moving affect the integumentary system?
Bed sores and pressure ulcers
Swelling (edema)
How does not moving affect the mental state?
Depresses, decrease in motivation

Increase in fluid and mucous

3- treat whole person (spiritual, social, psychological, physical parts)
4- team approach, work together, have confidence, be positive
What are the keys to success?
1) use care plan
2) be consistent
3) continuity of care
4) good communication to nurse and in between shifts

Slow moving

How do you implement restorative nursing?
Follow care plan Protects pt rights Keep directions simple Range of motion good alignment/ turn and position Do not rush them, allow them to complete the task Give praise
What are the two cardinal rules when to stop with range of motion?
When there is pain
Stop when joint stops, do not extend past joint
