Chapter 4 Flashcards
(10 cards)
centroid
The centroid of triangle is the point of concurrency of the medians of the triangle.
altitude of a triangle
An altitude of a triangle is the perpendicular segment from a vertex to the line containing the side opposite that vertex.
circumcenter
The circumcenter of a triangle is the point of concurrency of the perpendicular bisectors of the sides of the triangle.
concurrent
Concurrent lines are three or more lines that meet in one point. The point at which they meet is the point of concurrency.
equidistant
A point is equidistant from two objects if it is the same distance from the objects.
incenter
The incenter of a triangle is the point of concurrency of the angle bisectors of the triangle.
indirect proof
Indirect reasoning is a type of reasoning in which all possibilities ate considered and then all but one are proved false. The remaining possibility must be true.
median
A median of a triangle is a segment that has as its endpoints a vertex of the triangle and the midpoint of the opposite side.
Midsegment of a triangle
A midsegment of a triangle is a segment that joins the midpoints of two sides of the triangle.
orthocenter
The orthocenter of a triangle is the point of concurrency of the lines containing the altitudes of the triangle.
