Plane
an imaginary surface that divides the body
Anatomical Position
the posture of a person as a position of reference, person stands erect, facing forward, arms at the sides of the body, palms facing forward, and feet parallel to each other.
coronal (frontal) plane
cuts through the shoulders
transverse (horizontal) plane
cuts through the waist
midsagittal (median) plane
divides the body into right and left halves
abduction
movement away from the midsagittal plane of the body or one of its parts

turning inward or inside out

pertaining to the palm of the hand
plantar
pertaining to the sole of the foot

toward the surface of the body (external)
