What is nationality?
Nationality is the legally recognised country of origin of a person.
Who are people who have the same nationality as others?
People who are born in the same countries
Having the same nationality may have certain similarities such as as
- Common traditional and cultural practices
- Common language
- Common practices
Why do people with the same nationality feel more comfortable with each other?
They tend to have common experiences, attitudes, beliefs as well as lifestyle choices
What is race?
Race refers to the classification of people based on physical traits due to biological similarities
What is ethnicity?
Ethnicity refers to a group of people with the same cultural practices, language and beliefs
Why can ethnicity be independent of one’s race?
As people of the same race may belong to different ethnicity or people of biologically different races
What is religion?
Religion is an organised collection of attitudes, beliefs, practices, world reviews and often worship of a single or multiple gods
How do these beliefs and practices impact the people?
- Believers keep to these beliefs and practices regardless of their nationality and ethnicity
- These beliefs shape the way we interact with others, the choices we make and our thinking.
What are some examples of religions?
- Buddhism
- Christianity
- Hinduism
- Islam
- Sikhism
- Taoism
What is socio-economic status?
Socio-Economic status refers to the economic situaltuon shared by a group of people as well as some determinants such as occupation, income, education and wealth ownership
High socio-economic status
By being born into a wealthy family or accumulating their wealth through work or investments, these individuals usually have a higher quality of lifestyle
Medium socio-economic status
Generally involved in jobs performed in offices and are also known as “white collar” workers.
What does PMETs refer to?
Professionals, managers, executives and technicians
Lower Socio-economic status
- Do not possess much wealth.
- Sometimes they do not have the financial means to fully
support themselves. - Usually take up jobs that require manual labour or jobs
that do not require too much skills - Some are unemployed, homeless or receive financial
assistance from the government due to their financial
situation
