Texture
interweaving of melodic (horizontal) and harmonic (vertical) elements
Monophony
single like texture without any harmonic add on
Heterophony
texture in which two or more voices elaborate the same melody at the same time
Polyphony
texture in which two or more different melodic lines are combined
Counterpoint
combining in a single texture two or more simultaneous melodic lines
Homophony
single voice takes over the melodic interest, accompanying lines are subordinate
homorhythm
kind of homophony where all the voices or lines move together in the same rhythm
imitation
melodic idea presented in one voice and then restated in another
Canon
type of polyphonic composition in which one musical line strictly imitates another at a fixed time interval throughout
