Q

Median SSEP: absent N9, normal P14, N20

A

considered normal, can be technical error

The presence of brainstem P14 and cortical potentials (N20) indicated the response is propagating

N9 originates from the brachial plexus
P14 from the lower medulla,
N20 from the primary somatosensory cortex.

6
Q

d waves vs m waves on MEPs

A

D-waves, originating from the motor cortex and traveling down the corticospinal tract, are more sensitive to subtle changes and can predict long-term motor deficits with high specificity.

m-MEPs, on the other hand, are generated from cortex to muscle and are more sensitive to transient or temporary neurological deficits.
