1. When the antecedent is hypothetical, nonexistent, or unknown to the speaker- Something that one is speaking

Ex: I want to meet someone who loves me sincerely
NOT ex: I met a person who loves me sincerely

2. When the verb expresses a state or action that refers to the future or whose outcome is not known to the speaker
3. Indeterminate expressions referring to hypothesis or possibility: Qualquiera que
