What is Dyadic?
“Dyadic” refers to the interaction between two people. It becomes “triadic” when a third person joins the encounter.
What are the Elements of the Interpreting Session?
Facilitation, Understanding, Communication, Speaking Skills.
What form of speech an interpreter can use when speaking for the patient or provider?
The “first person” form of speech.
What is “Transparent Interpreting”?
“Transparent Interpreting” refers to keeping both parties fully informed of what is happening, who is speaking, and what you, the interpreter, are doing.
What are the limits of Literal Interpreting?
Literal, word-by-word interpreting does not always accurately convey the intended meaning.
Additionally, the interpreter maybe called upon to convey “untranslatable” words.
Also, in order to convey the intent of the message accurately and completely, the interpreter may have to say the hidden assumption contained within the discussion.
What should the interpreter do if he needs to intervene during a session and voice his own thoughts?
He should use to “third person” form of speech.
