What was the melting pot?
The melting pot was when many different cultures and people from different areas came to the USA and tried to adopt America’s culture and customs.
What immigration group was known for their sweet onions?

False, they blended in with the Natives which means they were treated unfairly.
Why did Nativists object to immigration?
Nativists objected to immigration because the immigrants would work for much less so they were scared that they would take their jobs.

How did the the discovery of Gold in the Klondike region impact WA?
It brought more money to America since people went up to Canada to get the “outfits” and there was a huge population increase.
How were the immigration groups treated?
Groups from Northern and Southern Europe were treated fairly and had more rights while Eastern and Western Europe and the Chinese were treated unfairly and couldn’t do most of the stuff the N and S Europeans could do.
Where did they settle?
Mostly in big cities like Walla Walla, Seattle, Tacoma, and Spokane but also near water like rivers and lakes or on peninsula’s.
What kind of occupations did they have?
The poor had dangerous jobs like mining, farming, logging, and just laborers in general. Rich people had better, high pay jobs like government officials, housemaids, and construction workers.
How did the railroad lead to the huge population increase in WA?
The railroad lines made Spokane a transportation hub. Soon, all the railroads led to Spokane being popular for mining, timber, and agriculture. To add on, people from Idaho and British brought their wealth from mines with silver to Spokane making Spokane a well-known and large city.
What was the Chinese Exclusion Act?
It was an Act banning Chinese people from immigrating to the U.S.
Were there any negatives to the population increase? If so, what were they?
Yes it was negative. Many immigrants were treated unfairly and many more laws had to be placed targeting them.
