A
  • Must have more than one symptom
    1. sad, anxious, or depressed mood
    2. loss of interest in pleasurable activities - isolation and hopelessness
    3. fatigue, or loss of energy may occur
    4. significant weight loss or weight gain
    5. insomnia or excessive sleep nearly every day
    6. Not able to concentrate
    7. thoughts of suicide

What is the Treatment and Prevention of Depression?

A
T = combination  - medication, exercise, nutrition, psychotherapy and ECT.
P = Many are not preventable but exercise, avoid stress, drugs and alcohol can help from having reoccurences

  3. Panic (most severe) - Impending doom-believe something is going to happen to them. Chest pain
  4. Posttraumatic stress - psychological consequences after traumatic event. T = self medicate
  5. Phobias - fear that is irrational but cannot be controlled
