Q

what are some limitations of the tri component model?

A

assumed- understanding a person’s
attitude enables us to predict their behaviour with accuracy.
urealistic-to expect attitudes to always
correspond perfectly because attitude is rarely a product of one single influence.
some psychologist don’t support it

Q

what conditions will make attitudes match with behaviour

A

-Strength of the Attitude
-well-informed about the topic
how information - obtained
surrounded by like-minded people

-accessibility of attitude
comes easily to mind eg slimy snake

-social context of the attitude
whether attitude leads to behaviour may be dependent on the social context or specific situation

-perceived control over the behaviour
behaviour more likely to match attitude if they believe they have control over it
free to perform or not perform the behaviour

Q

explain Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning, Modeling?

A

classical condition
it occurs with common asociation with two different stimuli(events that trigger a response example of classical is a coke add with attractive young people having fun with the product = positive associations so consumers think it =good time and buy product

operant conditioning
learning based on assumptions that we tend to repeat behaviour with disirable consequences and dont repeat undersirable
reinforcment important for strengthening attitude and their behaviour rewards and positive consequences =occur againand reinforse attitude so they will express in future.influencing people = attitude. punishment=attitude weaken or suppress

modelling
observing people can modify attitudes-people we admire respect .It occurs when we observe actions and consequences to guide future thoughts, feelings or behaviour
example-if parents complimented on healthy eating by friends it increases likleyhood of you adopting simular attitude their can also be negative modeling eg fashion models that are skinny and can also form attitudes without being aware

Q

what is repeated exposure?

A
  • being exposed to an object, person, group event or issue repeatedly
  • involves learning process
  • personal experience required (direct/indirect)
  • able to develop positive/negative positive
  • negative- negative experience can develop a negative attitude
