오늘은 14일 토요일입니다. 어제는 13일의 금요일이었습니다. Today is Saturday, the 14th. Yesterday was Friday the 13th.

오늘 김치를 처음 먹어 봤어요. I tried kimchi for the first time today.

an officer
저는 부사관이고 우리 형은 장교입니다. I am a non-commissioned officer, and my brother is a commissioned officer.
준위
a warrant officer; “deputy officer”
준위는 소위의 바로 아래 계급입니다. A warrant officer is immediately below a second lieutenant.
소위
a second lieutenant; “young officer”
다음 달에 웨스트포인트를 졸업하고 소위가 됩니다. I will graduate from West Point next month and become a second lieutenant.
중위
a first lieutenant; “middle officer”
지난 달에 소위에서 중위로 진급했어요. I was promoted from second lieutenant to first lieutenant last month.
대위
a captain; “big officer”
언제 중위에서 대위로 진급합니까? When will you be promoted from first lieutenant to captain?
소령
a major; “young governor”
소령은 대위의 바로 다음 계급입니다. A major is the rank immediately after a captain.
중령
a lieutenant colonel; “middle governor”
중령은 대령의 바로 아래 계급입니다. A lieutenant colonel is immediately below a colonel.
대령
a colonel; “big governor”
저 분이 현진수 대령님이세요? Is that person Colonel Hyun Jin-soo?
장군
a general; “commander of military”
장군은 네 계급이 있습니다. A general has four ranks.
준장
a brigadier general; “deputy commander”
이분은 미 육군 준장이십니다. This person is a brigadier general in the US Army.
소장
a major general; “young commander”
김 준장님이 어제 소장으로 진급하셨어요. Brigadier General Kim was promoted to major general yesterday.
중장
a lieutenant general; “middle commander”
소장 바로 다음 계급은 중장입니다. The rank immediately after major general is lieutenant general.
대장
a general; a four star general; “big commander”
김 중장님, 언제 대장으로 진급하십니까? Lieutenant General Kim, when will you be promoted to general?
