Different stages of the Australian food system
Production, processing, transport, distribution, marketing, consumption
Food citizenship
Involves individuals participating in, and making informed choices about issues such as sustainability, ethics or health in any stage of the food system.
Food sovereignty
Challenges the control of the food system and food supply by large corporations, and returns the decision making to farmers and individuals who produce and consume food, in order ti ensure that it is produced ethically and sustainably.
Food security
When all people, at all times have physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutririous food that meets their food preferences and their dietary needs for an active and healthy lifestyle
Climate change
A change in the pattern of weather, and related changes in oceans, land surfaces and ice sheets, occurring over time scales of decades or longer
Urbanisation
The process of making an area more urban. Urbanisation is the population shift from rural to urban areas, the corresponding decrease in the proportion of people living in rural areas, and the ways in which societies adapt to this change

A mathematical approach that collects and evaluates measurable and verifiable data in order to evaluate performance

Needs to assess the affect the food has on their senses. what it looks & smells like?

What are some current issues Australia is facing due to climate change?
Increase in temperature and decrease in rainfall.
Why is there an increase in demand for ‘clean green food’ from overseas consumers?
Overseas consumers know that Australia has a good reputation for producing clean and safe food which is governed by our high food saftey standards.
Negative impacts on Australia’s food security caused by urbanisation.
The increase in infrastructure takes up the land that could be used to grow good.
What food sectors are directly impacted by consumer activism related to food?
Agricultural production, food manufacturing, food retail.
What is a significant effect of media coverage on food related issues?
Raising public awareness and promoting regulatory changes.
