Assumptions of kinetic theory of gases

- Any gas is made up of a large number of particles
- The particles are in constant and random motion
- The particles make perfectly elastic collisions among themselves and with the wall of the container
- Volume of each particle is negligible compared to the volume of gas
- Forces between particles and negligible except during the time of collision. (Microscopic potential energy of particles can be set to 0 J)
- Duration of collagen is negligible compared with the time interval between collisions
