Characteristics Of Life Flashcards
(21 cards)
What are the 6 characteristics of life?
Similar cells to parents, reproduce, react to their envirement, grows and developes, homeostasis, cells.
Whats the difference between unicellular organization and multicellular?
Unicellular has 1 cell, but multi has many.
Define a cell?
Basic building block of anything.
differance between growth and developement?
Growth-To grow
Developement-The change in an organisms life.
How are stimulus and response?
They both are reactions.
4 needs of life?
Energey, water, living space, and stable internal conditions.
What is the differance between auto trophe and herotrophes?
Auto trophes make there own food, Herotrophes do not.
4 scientists and what they discovered
Anton Van Leewan-Single celled organisms, made first microscope.
Mattias Schleidan-Plants are made of cells.
Thedore Shaono-Everything is made of cells.
Robert Hooke- The first cells.
3 parts of cells.
Basic unit of life, all things have cells, and all things come from other cells.
3 types of microscopes and what do they do?
Simple-One lens only used to magnify
Compound-Light microscope has more than 1 lens
Electron-Uses a beam of electrons to magnify, higher resolution.
How are plant and animal cells different?
plant cells are autotrphes animal cells are not. Plant cells have a bigger vacuol, and plant cells do not have lysosomes
Nucleous
control center of a cell
cell membrane
protect the cell
cytoplasm
break down food for the cell
Endoplasmic recticulum
carries protein
Golgi Bodies
process proteins
Lysosomes
digest food
Vacuole
Stores food etc./storage
Chloroplast
produce energy for the cell
cell wall
protect everything inside of the cell
Mitochondria
makes energy
