Direct Characterization
Tells the audience what the personality of the character is.
Indirect Characterization
Shows things that reveal the personality of a character.
Flat Character
A simple character without showing of internal conflicts.
Round character
A complex character that shows internal conflict.
Static Character
A character that stays the same throughout a story
Dynamic Character
A character that changes throughout story
Internal Conflict
Struggle that takes place within characters mind
External Conflict
A Conflict outside of character: man vs man nature vs man
First Person POV
The point from which a story is told by one person - āIā
Third Person (limited)
Story is told by narrator who reveals thoughts of one character
Third Person (omniscient)
Point in which a story is told by an all knowing narrator
Irony
Saying one thing but meaning another
Situation irony
Irony in something that is happening
Verbal irony
Words with ironic meaning
