Q

Explain Reactivity of an element

A

With non mentals the higher the electron affinity the more reactive an element is because it really really wants to gain an electron.

But the opposite is true with metals. The lower the inozation energy of a metal the more reactive it is.

more reactive= higher coloum for non metals

more reactive= lower coloum for metals

Q

Explain Bonding Capacity of an element?

A

Basicly how many electrons are free and able in that elements valaence shells to pair up with more electrons. Rememeber hybrid orbitals can be made. Elements in coloum 4 can have 4 bond capacity due to them beings able to take an electron from the s orbital.

Q

Explain How to find the charge on a polyatomic Ion

A

draw the lewis dot structure for that polyatomic ion. Add or take away electrons to make all the elements have a full octet.
