does temperature affect acitivation energy?
temperature does NOT affect activation energy; it is lowered by enzymes. Temperature increases rxn rate by increasing kinetic energy/number of collisions.
describe a zero-order reaction
reaction rate does not depend on concentration of reactants
rate law: R=k
units of rate constant: M/s
what is the rate law and reaction order?
an equation that relates the reaction rate with the concentration or partial pressures of the reactants of a chemical reaction; exponenets need to be found experimentally
reaction order is the relationship between the concentrations of species and the rate of the rxn
describe a first order reaction
reaction rate depends on concentration of only one of the reactants
rate law: r=k[A]
units: 1/s
describe a second order reaction
the reaction rate is proportional to the square of the concentration of one reactant or the product of the concentrations of two reactants
rate law: r=k[A]² or r= k[A][B]
units: 1/(M*s)
